Vail Innovation Center
Letter from the Coordinator
October 6, 2020
Hello amazing VIC Students/Families,
We are so proud of all of the hard work and determination of our amazing students, families, teachers and staff. We have all pulled off one amazing first quarter and we could not have done this without each of you.
Over our break, be sure to use your time to get caught up if needed, but also take time to enjoy the fall break as a family. It is always good to unplug for a bit and take some time to enjoy nature or whatever activities make you most happy.
Remember, our fall break does not have set dates for work to be completed. The Vail School District is scheduled for fall break the weeks of October 12th - October 23rd. You do not have to log in to Edmentum or Calvert to work over the break if you are on track. This is a great opportunity to close gaps, get caught up, or even ahead if you feel so inclined. Getting ahead and studying will help at your finals time to allow you more time to study.
Over the break (October 12-23) the VIC will be open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday both weeks.
One more reminder, over the break teachers will be checking emails daily. If you are in need of items to be unlocked or you are in need of assistance and it has been over 24 hours, please email innovation@vailschooldistrict.org.
Thank you and have a great break,
Rachel Tankersley

Individual Pictures Survey
Here is a link for you to complete a brief survey to let us know if you are interested in having your student come in to the VIC for a student picture. https://forms.gle/M4Pztyu43pPdqPRT8
Thank you for your help in completing this survey so we can plan accordingly.
Fall Break and Work in Edmentum
As we are nearing our fall break, remember that you will need to be on pace in all of your classes by Friday, October 9th, 2020 in order to take this time off. If you are behind pace in any of your classes, it is our expectation that you will use the fall break time to login and catch up. When students use this fall break time as work time, the class completions will progress at a faster rate since the pacing calendar is frozen and new targets are not being added. Please use the fall break time to your advantage.
When the Vail School District goes on the scheduled fall break the weeks of October 12th-23rd, you are not required to login to Edmentum, if you are on pace in all of your classes.
Thank you,
The Vail Innovation Center Team

6-12 End of Semester Test Procedures
Hello VIC students, parents, and staff,
Testing procedures are being revised for the remainder of the school year. Please read the information provided below.
At this time we are going to continue to have students take their final exams from home. When scheduling and taking your exam from home you are agreeing to follow all of the testing policies and procedure requirements mentioned below. We will strictly adhere to these guidelines.
How to schedule your exam:
Students will need to use the link on their Teacher Approval letter to schedule their final. The final times will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at either 9 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.
** Please remember testing will be done from HOME, so you will not be testing at the VIC. You MUST fill out the GoogleForm completely to schedule your time.
We highly encourage parent(s) or guardian(s) to proctor and support you during your exam. Things for you to keep in mind:
During the exam you may only use a 4x6 notecard to write any notes you may need for the test.
Students should plan to spend up to two hours to complete their exam.
After you complete your final exam, you must take a screenshot of your browser history showing your testing time. This will be sent to your teacher for them to approve your credit for the course. *If you do not send your history, your final will be invalidated and you will receive an “F” on your transcript.
Once your final is scheduled with all of the appropriate information we will unlock the exam for you remotely. By scheduling and taking your exam from home you are agreeing to follow all of the testing policies and procedure requirements from above. Please be sure to read them carefully so you are in compliance with the policies to keep your final exam results valid.
Thank you,
The VIC Team
